Improving College Study Skills and Time Management to Do What You Love

Do you want straight A's and a 4.0 GPA? Would you like to get good grades while having more time to do what you want and have more fun?

No matter what type of student you are, there is an easy solution that can help you improve your study skills and your time management: The Genius Student Planner. The Genius Student Planner helps you improve your grades, gives you more time for things you want to do, and helps you save more money.

Imagine getting better grades, while having more time to further your education, watch your favorite team, or spend more time with your friends. Imagine having more time to really evaluate what you want to spend your life doing instead of jumping into a career because it just sounds good. All of these things are possible by improving your study skills and your time management. Believe it or not, you can reduce your stress and start getting things done quicker than you thought you ever could.

Contrary to what some might think, studying more is not the secret to improving grades. Advancing your college study skills and boosting your study habits is the formula for achievement. I am not suggesting you decide to not study as much in order to get a better grade, but instead, with better study skills, you will end up studying more efficiently, and then you will naturally study less as you already know the material faster.

Study skills including learning how to use study guides, flashcards, outlines, highlighting, and reading as often as possible are the tricks used by many successful students. Memory tricks and techniques are crucial for any student whether they remember things well or not. It is much more beneficial to eliminate time wasters and distractions while studying than to study for a longer amount of time while distracted. That brings us to the first important trick about studying, which is also present in many other aspects in life:

Quality > Quantity

You could study 20 out of the 24 hours leading up to a test, but if there is a lot of material, it will not matter if the studying is not done efficiently. I have heard other students say, "I studied for about 7 hours last night for this test." I do not always tell them how long I have studied because sometimes it might be half as long but I end up doing as well or better than the student who "studied" for 7 hours. Because some students study while watching TV, listening to the iPod, browsing Facebook, searching all over the internet, texting and talking on the phone, or any combination of these while studying, it takes them much, much longer than it should. By focusing on quality studying more than the quantity of studying, you can improve your grades and your life.

College can be a difficult balancing act of preparing for the rest of your life, while enjoying the experiences that only college can offer. Learning how to manage time is the absolute key to being able to not only improve your grades but your life in general. College time management is key because college is the first time that many people are completely reliant on themselves. In high school there is hardly any emphasis on managing time, while in college, no one is there to help show you how to increase your time management skills. Being able to manage your time in college will help determine how successful you will be in college and how successful you can be as a person. Improving your study skills will dramatically improve your grades and overall happiness very quickly.
